Indonesian mountaineering group to conquer 7 world's highest peaks Mountain / News Date: Dec 30, 2009 - 11:51 AM Indonesian top mountaineering group, Wanadri, from Bandung of West Java province will conduct mountain climbing expedition to the seven world's highest peaks in three years, starting from May 2010, Antara news agency quoted one of group's staffs as saying on Tuesday. Wanadri's operating staff Ardeshir Yaftebbi said in Bandung that the spectacular expedition that will be conducted by its six best climbers is titled "Wanadri for Indonesia: on the World's Roofs". The seven highest mountains that will be the target are Cartenz Pyramid in Papua, Kilimanjaro in Africa, Elbrus in Europe, Aconcagua in South America, McKinley in the United States, Pinson Massive in Antarctic and the world highest peak of Mount Qomolangma. Ardeshir said that the period of the climbing is quite long as not all mountains could be climbed every time. According to Ardeshir, the expedition is aimed to raise dignity of the nation before the world's eyes. He said that of 245 countries in the world, only 23 of them that managed to conquer the highest mountains. Ardeshir said that the expedition will need 7-8 billion rupiah (about 700,000-800,000 U.S. dollars). He said that Wanadri will seek for the fund from the government as well as from sponsors.
